Taurus Pistols Reviews - Just introduced is the new Taurus G3c sub-compact 9mm pistol with many useful features and upgrades at a very reasonable price. It is clear from handling and shooting this rifle that Taurus is committed to creating competitively priced concealed carry weapons with a number of outstanding features and attention to quality control.

Taurus is making nice progress towards restoring its reputation and this solid budget gun is helping. They are working on improving their customer service. Made in Brazil (not in their new USA Bainbridge, Georgia facility) the G3c improves on their already best selling Generation 3 G3 full size and G2c subcompact budget 9mms. And my favorite Mayberry mechanic, Gomer Pyle, says "Surprise, surprise!" They added several useful improvements for a budget price of about $300 for a single action, 22 ounce, 12-round pistol.

I wanted to shoot this hot-off-the-press, budget-priced sub-compact 9mm and thoroughly evaluate it for consideration as an inexpensive truck gun for concealed carry, fun range plunking, and/or quick availability. And I hope this helps you make some decisions. First, I want to give you a summary of the specifications and features of the G3c as a baseline. Next I will give you my 10 criteria that I use to evaluate all guns. Then finally I present my analysis and how I specifically evaluated the gun against each of my 10 criteria to recommend or not recommend. Here are just 10 of my criteria and factors I use to evaluate each handgun, so I'll use them for the G3c. In addition to my criteria, there are some subjective characteristics that may be of interest to some, such as a particular style, mag release position, action, caliber, appearance, number of mags included, sights/changes, bore axis, rail, grip angle , non-porting. Or include extras like porting, a holster and pouch, customer service, etc. So, I combined them in my final several criteria. I have to admit that all gun-choice decisions involve trade-offs, but I really want all of my criteria to be met. I assigned a total possible point score of 10 points for each of my 10 criteria for a total possible score of 100 points. You can of course add your own additional criteria and preferences or subtract one from mine.

I was anxious to shoot the G3c and see if it really met or exceeded my ten criteria so that I could help you and myself evaluate this pistol for concealed carry and other purposes. So I drove to Pace Florida's Outdoor Santa Rosa Shooting Center where we train our students and shoot our test rifles.

And many thanks to Fiocchi and SinterFire for providing quality 9mm ammo in various grains and types for my G3c testing and evaluation. All ammo worked great with no malfunctions or errors of any kind. Without a doubt, this sub-compact pistol and its quality control and features were a pleasant surprise for me and fun to shoot. The Taurus has improved and is not the Taurus it used to be, so feel free to try this gun for yourself. I appreciate its fine, upgraded smooth single-action trigger and its re-strike capability, its nearly 4.80-pound press, its very short reset, thumb and finger position and memory pads to aid rest, reliability and accuracy. Trigger light, about two pounds of intake, was impressive for a budget gun with a solid stop before breaking cleanly. Below are my ratings for each of my 10 criteria for the G3c. I thought this for my concealed carry revolver and a truck gun. I wanted to put the pistol through its paces and thoroughly test it for flaws, stops, accuracy, reliability, ergonomics, and my other criteria.

Here are some of my overall highlights that impressed me about the new and improved G3c range.

I was quite surprised that I didn't have a single defect and it fed all our ammo well. This gun was reliable, at least for my range trials. There were no stoppages and overall this pistol performed superbly. It digested a variety of ammunition types and grain weights, including Fiocchi 115 grain FMJ (1200 fps), Sig Sauer 124 grain FMJ (1165 fps), and Sinterfire Greenline 100 grain frangible lead-free JHP (1350 fps). ) ran. Sinterfire frangible high-velocity ammunition performed exceptionally well. I could not test the restrik ability of the gun as there was no light primer strike.

For a 3.26″ short barrel, only 22-ounce pistol, I was satisfied with its decent and manageable filter coil, slight muzzle rise, and accuracy. It was just a little squishy but no problem for me with the feeling and slight concern for my wife. Note that this G3c has a higher round capacity and very close to the same barrel length, about $250 less MSRP than the Springfield Hellcat, Glock 26 and Sig 365. The slide was very easy to rack, probably due to the all-weather black Teflon coating treatment that reduces friction, as well as corrosion and rust. All operational control parts are coated with Teflon. And the slide is coated with tenifer for longer wear resistance, to reduce pain and prevent corrosion. I remember working at DuPont's West Virginia plant in the Teflon department during the summer of my college years. They invented Teflon and it is a great product that protects against corrosion and abrasion, reduces friction and protects against impact.

The trigger was exceptional, especially for a budget-priced handgun. I was very impressed with its smooth, light, almost no drag, and crisp single action trigger press. The press was a bit longer than mine. The tractor is not bad and not great, but works very well. With Restrik there is no hammer and single action. The trigger safety blade does not irritate your trigger finger when the trigger is pulled. And the tractor is flat faced. This hammerless pistol had a light takeup, a short reset, and was accurate at 7 yards for this old coder and its 3- to 3.5-inch rapid-fire groups. Good enough for self-defense and concealed carry, but it's not an expensive match-grade trigger and makes sense for the price. The flat-faced trigger helped me to concentrate my toe pressure on the front of the shoe for a straight press.

Blued-steel, double-stack polished mags drop quickly and easily from the mag well. Where the bottom of the mag meets the polymer base plate of the 3 mags (yes 3 included) well above the grip there are indentations, scallops or dimples on both sides to aid in mag changes and when you change the mag have to rip out due to a double feed or malfunction. The quality mags with their sleek, metallic finish performed exceptionally well and they dropped really freely. The mag release button had a serrated surface for ease of use and could be reversed for left handed/ambidextrous operation. These steel mags have a bright yellow follower that helps ensure that the mag is empty. 15-round and 17-round G3c mags will also be available for higher capacities.

A Review Of The Taurus Gx4 Pistol

All-steel front and rear sights are standard. The rear sight is completely black and speckled to reduce glare and achieve faster sight picture acquisition. The rear sight is drift adjustable for fine-tune point-of-impact and dovetail cut to accept common aftermarket optional fiberglass or tritium night sights.

Overall ergonomics and grip were excellent for me and my medium sized hands and fingers. However, toward the end of my test shooting session, the aggressively textured grip surfaces began to take their toll on me, but this mild irritation occurred after a long, continuous shooting range session. After all, for personal protection, you rarely shoot 200 and more continuous rounds.
