Taurus Pt22 Price - There's nothing like looking at seemingly endless plastic and metal tables at a gun show. As a child I remember my father dragging me through the doors of each show 60 miles away. He never wanted more, but he enjoyed looking for "oldies but goodies" as he called them.
Of course my father was referring to the guns and rifles that the industry had placed on the road. In the years since that childhood trip, I myself have found many gems and a few lemons among the battered tables inside fairgrounds, amusement parks and agricultural buildings.
Taurus Pt22 Price
The predecessor of the Taurus 22PLY, the PT-22 is a very compact pocket pistol chambered in .22 long rifle. Featuring a black alloy frame, the gun sits just over four inches tall and 5.25-inches tall. The 2.75-inch barrel works well if you intend to take the "pocket gun" label to heart.

But what attracted me to the Taurus PT-22 was its scope. At 1.3 inches wide, it's the perfect size for my small hands and fits nicely in my small grip - a plus when I need to work on one-handed shooting.

However, before you think that you can give up the second hand, remember that the Taurus PT-22 is a double step. For shooters accustomed to the heavy equipment associated with DAO rifles, the pull will come as a bit of a problem. For shooters like myself, who have experienced featherweight ammunition in my Glock and Springfield pistols, the long DAO will require some work.
The PT-22 used in this review came in at a 10-pound trigger pull. Compared to my usual carry gun - a Springfield Mod.2 that weighs 6.5 to 7 pounds - this was a big move.

To compensate for the lack of a lightweight trigger, the Taurus uses a barrel that is always interesting, reminiscent of the Beretta 21 Bobcat. The PT-22's barrel pops out of the air with the push of a button and is perfect for shooters who struggle to engage the slide with a conventional semi-automatic pistol. The release is easy to operate and is located near the trigger. Ammo slides down the chamber and the barrel snaps back into place with some force. Whether I see this design happening for non-slide shooters or it's because I find the barrel a little novel, it's my favorite part of this gun.

When I first took the Taurus to the range I was ready for the action of the gun. Ammo was cheap so I stocked up on different types. Ready to spend hours working with the PT-22, I ended up shooting him just 10 to 15 minutes for an hour and a half before I called it quits for the day.

While the .22 click is always fun, it gets annoying when your index finger hits. That was my first trip with Taurus. The next trip was easy and I was able to do a lot as I built up strength and became familiar with the design of the PT-22s.

If you're going to the range with this little guy, be sure to place your sights close to your shooting position. The size to match the caliber ultimately means you won't be getting this out to 25 yards. I found that 15 yards was the best gun I could get if I wanted to hit paper - and that was a blur at times. I am most successful in the 3-7 yard range.
The Taurus has a fixed blade sight on the front and a rear notch on the back. The sights are accurate and the first one I fired connected just right of the center of my pink flame target. As I continued to fire and the DAO trigger began to get the best of me, my shots began to spread across the paper. My last magazine of the day was almost nothing but pink and black. With those results, I knew it was time to call it a day.

In the days I've spent testing and messing with the PT-22, I can say I'm pretty happy with the reliability. It's no secret that Taurus has had its ups and downs when it comes to producing a reliable hand. I had a PT-709 in my early days of gun ownership that worked perfectly. On the other hand, the entire cylinder of my Taurus CIA revolver fell out at the feet of my shooting friend at the range the other day. That prompted a call to Taurus and the brand new revolver from the Brazilian manufacturer.
The PT-22 worked well for me. I won't lie, it's pretty good for jamming (like most .22s) if not fed good ammo. Fortunately, it's not too picky and as long as I stay away from reloads (if I ever encounter any) and dirty ammo, we're good. In testing this review over the course of a week I experienced only two pull failures, which were resolved when I switched to CCI ammo.
The magazine holds eight rounds and the pop-up barrel design allows for an additional round in the chamber giving shooters a nine round capacity. This is not a main gun. There is no way I would trade this pea shooter for a Springfield, Sig, Smith or Glock, all of which have twice the capacity.

However, it's great if you need a little extra action and prefer to carry a second gun in case things hit the fan. Riding inside a bag, ankle rig or thigh rig, owners can easily and discreetly travel this Taurus.

For concealed carriers who refuse to carry without a safety, this gun has a thumb safety located on the left side of the gun near the slide. It's easy to take off and power up - just remember to do so before you shoot.
Again, I wouldn't tie this to an IWB platform as my sole source of fire, mainly due to the lack of power and lack of range, but in a pinch (especially if the striker is good for me) it's enough. fist to get out of a scary situation.

The PT-22 is a stun gun in the sense that it looks unashamed. Shooters looking to integrate a fearless, wallet-friendly gun into their lives can sit well with the PT-22. Although the trigger is not a complete deal, it can be difficult for some.
While you won't find me hanging out all day at the range with the PT-22, it's perfect for days when dressier events call for a thigh or ankle rig paired with a smaller pistol. Plus, if I know I'm going to a shady spot and need a little power, I can look at the PT-22 to ride alongside.. Taurus PT-22: 2 Minute Review and Explainer - More than the last three Taurus guns I've had. The reviews have been good, my history with their products is not always good. I think Taurus is making a better name for itself with recent releases like the GX-4, but I wanted to check out some of their older guns.
This time I chose the PT22. I chose this because I recently gave their newest .22 pistol, the TX-22, a pretty glowing review.

It's basically a Beretta 21, a Bobcat in looks and a bit in performance, but it's no match for the Beretta. The sloped barrel and slide look cheap at first glance and the frame doesn't like this aspect. The polymer underneath looks like cheap plastic. I just don't like the look of the gun. Practically, all Bobcat parts are here. The only real difference is that the Taurus does a better job of loading the magazine. That design choice is worth noting. The fish scale texture on the slide is also very nice. But in general, it just doesn't seem like what I want to shoot.
